Had a chance to check this place out again last night after a Tiger's game. Once again, it didn't disappoint. There was a good crowd in there, especially considering we were there from 9pm to 11pm on a Tuesday night. I took Chiavetta's advice and tried the house cigars - a dark rich maduro. It was a spicy smoke (exactly what I was looking for), and I can't wait to try out more of their house stogies.

Wonderful cigar bar in Detroit’s entertainment district. Proximate to most of downtown’s theatres and sports venues La Casa is a great place to grab a stick and a drink before or after an event.  During the day it’s a nice quiet spot to light up and hold a meeting or get some work in. Large walk-in humidor offers a nice selection that includes proprietary cigars hand-rolled on site (a bargain…see chiavetta’s comment). Bar area can get a little jammed up on busy nights, but you won’t mind because the crowd is one of the friendliest and most diverse you’ll find anywhere in the city. Very courteous staff (don’t forget to ask for Bobby who gives an excellent shoeshine). Upstairs offers a private lounge recently renovated to accommodate a full bar. Live music on most nights.

Stopped in on a Monday afternoon to enjoy a smoke. La Casa De La Habana has a cigar store with roller connected to a lounge area, as well as a private lounge upstairs. I purchased several of their "house cigar" produced by the roller on-site and enjoyed them in the lounge. The staff in both the store and in the lounge were gracious and friendly. The store has a nice selection of cigars but I'd recommend trying the hand-rolled (they are a deal at 3 for $25). The lounge has plentiful seating, including overstuffed chairs as well as tables and chairs. It also has a bar area. I spent a recent afternoon in the lounge and enjoyed it so much I came back that night for Monday Night Football. It was packed. Definitely a place to stop in if you are in downtown Detroit.
